Student Tips
Seniors: Make a list (Create a Calendar) of test names, dates, fees, registration deadlines, and deadlines for college admissions and financial aid applications. Remember that exams such as the SAT and/or ACT
must be taken at least six weeks before the deadline for scores to be
submitted to colleges. Ask teachers, guidance counselors and
employers for letters of recommendation to include with your admissions
and/or scholarship applications.
Juniors: This is a good time to begin identifying sources of college and
career information at your high school. Looking through guidance
publications, websites, college catalogs, and guidebooks are good places to
start. Put together a list of 10 colleges you would like to attend
and then discuss it with your parents and guidance counselor. Remember to study and register for the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude
Test (PSAT).
