About Our Program
College Advocates provide a variety of services within CREATE collaborations with school districts and community groups. Through lively and interactive presentations, College Advocates inform students, parents and other community members about the college-going process, which includes college eligibility requirements, financial aid, SAT/ACT testing, and the California four-college system [California Community Colleges (CCC), California State Universities (CSU), University of California schools (UC), and private universities].
College Advocates personalize their presentations by incorporating their social and academic experiences from high school and college. Many Advocates come from the San Diego community and have backgrounds similar to those students with whom they work.
In addition, they discuss the benefits of college and the importance of higher education. Presentations are designed to motivate and enhance student academic preparation for admission to UC San Diego and comparable institutions.
Going beyond presentations, College Advocates establish individual relationships with students through information sessions, specialized workshops, and parent education workshops in several areas of the college-going process.
Parent Education Workshops
Workshops conducted by the CREATE Community Coordinator and College Advocates increase parents' knowledge, rights, advocacy, and education about the college-going process.
UCSD Tours
Tours of the UCSD campus are available through the Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools. For tour information call (858) 822-1455.
If you are affliliated with any CREATE collaboration school or community group
