College Advocates assist the Community Coordinator in increasing parents' knowledge, rights, advocacy, and education via motivational presentations about the college-going process to students and parents of K-12 schools as part of CREATE's collaborations with local school districts and community centers.
College Advocates aim to provide motivational information about the college-going process to these students and parents. The outreach focus is on increasing the number of low income, underrepresented and first-generation college students who apply and enroll at UCSD and comparable institutions.
While the CREATE Community Coordinator provides training, supervision and management of the program, College Advocates take primary responsibility for the administration and scheduling of activities. It is essentially a student-run program with some monitoring.
